So today I'll be telling you about our main Maths focus this week which was measurement/benchmarks. So on Tuesday we made a 1 metre ruler out of the edges of A4 card paper. So to make a 1 metre ruler out of A4 paper you need to fold it and fold again now cut the pieces tape them together then put it against a 1 metre ruler and if there is any extra part you can cut it off. Once we're finished we go outside with our math books and write down things that we think are 1 or 2 metre objects then measure them with our ruler we made. The next day we did Benchmarks if you don't know what that is it's when you measure a part of your body to a specific measurement like if you take four steps that's a metre . So we went outside with our math books and found things that are 10 and 1 centimetre 1 metre 1/2 metre then write it down. Bye!
Sai'aupito Valerie. I enjoyed these measuring activities too. What were some of the objects you found outside of the classroom that matched those measurements? Nga mihi Mrs Jones
