What I Understand About Fables

A fable is a short simple story with a familiar setting like a lake, park or a beach. And for characters, they could be an animal. Parts of a fable is a setting a main part and most importantly an ending with a moral lesson. This is and example of a fable: "The turtle and the hare" the turtle wanted to race the hare through the forest. The hare was winning then took a very long nap thinking that with his speed he can easily win the race! the turtle was winning with his slow pace and when the turtle just crossed the finished line then the hare woke up and ran to the finished line, and at the line he saw the turtle waiting for him. The hare said " Well you were right slow and steady can win the race."  In that fable there was a setting a main part, animals for characters and an ending with a moral lesson. I hope you now understand what a fable is if you haven't already. Bye!

Spring

A day in spring is sunny and rainy,

wind howling and sun shining.

Flowers sprouting and plants growing,

kids playing and students studying.

 Spring is always so fun,

some older kids going for a run.

Fresh air in our lungs.

bees buzzing and grass so green.

Spring is the best.

 Special Olympics

So you might be thinking the Olympics have already finished which is true. But the seniors started a special Olympics. We got into groups of 5, 4 and maybe 3, but that's not the point. When we got in groups we had a country name like other groups, so now we were in countries and made our flag  my group was Jamaica and a group of four the people in my group. There were 9 activities to go through they were called balloon badminton, human quilts, tin stacking, bean bag tossing, racing relays, heavy gumboot throwing, we stick together, human egg and costume relays. The first thing Jamaica did was balloon badminton and for last we did costume relays. It was fantastic we had a great time and also Jamaica got first place with a gold medal we were very surprised and super happy. But we did earn it, if you would like to see a couple pictures, look down below. See ya!

My Olympic Digital Learning Object

MY OLYMPIC DLO

So for reading everyone in each reading class were told to gather Ideas about the ancient Olympics or what's happening to NZ at the Tokyo Olympics. We watched some videos based on this and some stories, we used the information to create our DLO my focusing question was "What's happening for NZ at the Tokyo Olympics". I created a DLO about it and I will write it in this article.

At the Olympics NZ and other countries still need to social distance, wash hands clean Equipment and other stuff in Quarantine. And now there is a new Contagious virus called delta. And did I mention there are three very important called Excellence,Friendship and Respect.

The number of medals we achieved this year were "20" even if we still had to do the Olympics with the virus well, once again were are celebrating, Once again all countries meet together to get ready for the Paralympics. Once again the sun rises Tokyo is now handing the responsibility of hosting the Olympics to France (Paris). Click the link to go to my DLO.

And to make our ULO (unplugged Learning Object) we have been doing a sport study click the link to go to my sport study.

Poems I Wrote In The School Holidays

 1. The stars twinkle in the sky,

Way way way up high.

Matariki is not always there,

Just look for them and beware.

2. All stars are different.

All stars are bright.

All stars twinkle way up high,

All stars are pretty and so very nice.

But Matariki is always right.

3.When the sun has gone down,

And the blue stars appear.

Then the dinosaurs know that their bedtime is near,

So they all brushed their teeth and sweet faces too.

Then they wiggle and stretch just like dinosaurs do.

Their Pajamas are cozy, they all put them on.

And they yawn,

And they yawn,

And they yawn,

And they yawn.

Bye!

Maths With Valerie

So today I'll be telling you about our main Maths focus this week which was measurement/benchmarks. So on Tuesday we made a 1 metre ruler out of the edges of A4 card paper. So to make a 1 metre ruler out of A4 paper you need to fold it and fold again now cut the pieces tape them together then put it against a 1 metre ruler and if there is any extra part you can cut it off.  Once we're finished we go outside with our math books and write down things that  we think are 1 or 2 metre objects then measure them with our ruler we made. The next day we did Benchmarks if you don't know what that is it's when you measure a part of your body to a specific measurement like if you take four steps that's a metre . So we went outside with our math books and found things that are 10 and 1 centimetre 1 metre 1/2 metre then write it down. Bye!

                         PINK SHIRT DAY

Can you count how many times I said pink? Last Friday was pink shirt day, I'm sure you know what that is but if you don't it means you'll need to wear pink to school on one particular day of the year. So now you know what that is I'll tell you about my day. It was very early in the morning when I went to school so I decided to have some breakfast at breakfast club some staff who was doing the breakfast was kind of wearing pink. Anyway after breakfast I went to launchpad with some of my friends who also go to launchpad. The staff at launchpad wasn't wearing pink but they didn't know it was the day so it was fine. The bell rang then I went back to my class (Manukau) we did the roll as we wrote in our training diary. Later on after the roll we went to singing assembly in the school hall and because it was a lovely weather that day, so the whole school sat in the shape of a shirt and everyone was wearing pink so the shirt we made was PINK. It was a cool pink shirt day and here are a couple photos we took.⬇ BYE!

Under The Wires

On an unexpected Wednesday all the seniors saw the teachers wearing make up when we finally got into the classroom in Wietemata and Hauraki there were string on top of the surface we have been given our rubber, pencil, pen and art book where we did all our work in that day we also had and basic facts test we did it while the teachers (Mrs Jones) played  a gun shooting sound. And if our heads touch the string or go over it the teacher will shoot us with a Nerf gun and when we stood up to go to morning tea and lunch our legs felt amazing anyway it was a hard fun day. BYE

Well being with Ms McGrath

So what I mean by well being is we all (year 5's) talked about the well being survey from last term we talked about each section and what they mean. It was to give us an idea of what's happening this Friday PINK SHIRT DAY!

It was to always remember to show kindness. Anyway we did some fun compliment activities one of them (my favourite one) was the compliment circle. So everyone had to stand in a circle and Ms McGrath started it off by saying a compliment to someone then sit down and the person she said the compliment too had to say a compliment to someone other than the person who already gave a compliment then they sit down. I think it was a game of kindness because when you say a compliment to someone you smile and they smile even bigger you can almost see their teeth.

We did some other games the games were Musical gratitude and making a compliment fortune teller.  I'll tell you the compliment I got "Every time there is something new to do I always try it out", I gave Koleka a compliment I said "Thank you for helping me spell hard words".

It was a fun morning but also quite educational when we were learning the meaning of kindness and talking about well being.  I felt amazing giving a compliment. BYE👋

Swimming

Since week 1 term 2 the seniors and middle school have been swimming at Cameron Pools on Tuesday and Thursday. The seniors got
buddied up with a class to go to Cameron Pools in the bus together. At the pool the middles and the seniors split. The middles went into the
Nan's pool and the seniors went into the big and quite deep pool. We use boards or no boards. Each time we swam down the lane in a different style of swimming. My swimming coach is really nice to my group. Swimming at Cameron pools is really fun. Something that I would like to achieve would be me free style and my mermaid swim. Some of the styles of swimming we did were free style, stream line, dolphin dive, mermaid swim and others. I love Cameron Pools. I hope you love swimming as well. Thank you for looking at my blog post. If you had any more free time could you please look my other posts or maybe even post a comment. Blog you later.

                      The ANZAC Adventure

Can you spot how many times I said ANZAC starting from reading this sentence I’ll give you hints. YESSS! On monday was my exploring day oh and by monday I mean week 1 monday in the school holidays. but thats not the point.

So where we went was something to do with non other than ANZAC day. We did it to commemorate with ANZAC day.  We went the week before ANZAC day, like I said on monday week one of the school holidays keep that in mind, I went with my dad,(Tafengamonu) Mum,(Tuna) Ros-Alan, Sione and Gorgie. Oh wait yeah we also went to the museum.

Early in the week me and my family went to the museum we explored so much things that happened in the past and in the ANZAC war with Germany and Russia. So we went to this huge room with no door just a big open wall you can walk through so one of the most interesting fun things we tried was theses very heavy coats but obviously in wasn’t that heavy when the soldier’s wore it, a HuGe while later we saw a room with so many things to do with ANZAC we took photos of us in the ships they used to take them to the beaches (the wrong one) we also took some more photos with what they wore these body suits and big shorts and skirts. They also have emergency kits it had tin food, biscuits, tooth brush and they sometimes hide gum in their hats. It was sad we had to finish our adventure but we got some McDonald on our way home.

We had a very fun enjoyable time at the museum looking for information about the ANZAC.

                   MY DADS GRADUATION🎓

Last week on Sunday 18th of April it was my dads graduation, for theology, we had to wake up very early in the morning and get ready to go to a Methodist church at Ponsonby. when we got there everyone was sitting down in there seats and waited, when all the students came in they came in a line. Anyway the graduation took about 2 or 3 hours it was very long, when the woman called out my dads name to go up to the front and say his speech about how he is thankful for getting his degree and other stuff, my brother snuck up to the front and snapped some nice photos of our dad and the president of the church and getting a woman to put on his stole. after all the students had gotten their stoles and having their hands shook  it was time to take photos with loved ones and family and friends that came. It was all finished and everyone came out of the church greeting doctors and lawyers outside the church and took photos with them.
I felt VERY VERY proud and happy for my dad, because he is 50 years old, but he still achieving his goals. Its inspired me to never give up no mater what conditions or how long it will take or how hard it looks like, everything is possible

                  🎂The Unexpected Birthday🎂

When I woke up on Saturday 10th of April 2021 it was my 9th birthday and yes you might be thinking that I was turning 10 but I'm turning 9. When I woke up I had french toast for breakfast and then got changed then started cleaning and vacuuming, I finished, I heard a knock at the door I answered it, it was my Auntie she came with a present a cake balloons and McD's short for McDonald's. Everyone sang happy birthday while I was making a confused but smiley face. It was time for me to make a wish I can't tell anyone my wish so we each had a slice of cake and then opened the presents two from my family and two from my Auntie, she got me a cross with gods prayer on it, with a key chain with my name on it. And my family bought me 5 rings in a  packet with a brand on it. And  a wallet from GUCCI and 9 dollars inside. It was unexpected, because I didn't want to do anything. All I wanted to do was watch movies all day, and I didn't EXPECT anything. I really appreciated it,  at the end of the day everyone was so so tired and fell asleep during a movie. Everyone enjoyed it.                                                                                                                               🎂THE END🎂

                             RIPPER RUGBY

On Thursday was the day I've been waiting for. Drumroll please (drum sound) RIPPER RUGBY! So first of all we were in groups to go into volunteers cars to drive us to May road park for our tournament. There were eight games and we won seven. That means we lost one game - we lost by one try it was sad but we were still proud of our selves and celebrated. We came back to school and jumped in the freezing pool with our ripper uniforms still on. Then Arielle's mum bought some Ice-cream, we all had two each. It was yum! Then we went back in the school pool after we all got changed and ready for home time. We took some photos and had so much fun.

The Tsunami

 The Tsunami

There was a tsunami in Aukland NZ I don't really know where about it was, but it kind of happend under water but some people still had to evacuate had leave their houses and Ms sands had about 70 old people to look after it was so crazy. That is why you need to pack an emergency pack but you'll need a list of things you need to pack, for an earthquake of if there is no power.

You'll need: Toilet paper,a spare backpack, phone, water, radio, portable chargers, batteries, a torch, first aid kit, non-perishable food like crackers nuts tin food. You also need some repellent and fly spray, medicine just in case if anyone is sick. So that's all bye.
